I'm sorry for using compressed paragraphs. My last post was more sarcastic in my reference to the Seleneums. I dont like them at all. I have heard the Infinity component sets. All of them if memory serves me correctly. I do agree, they sound very clean. I was leaning towards the Kicker SS's just for something a little more exotic. I tend to listen to a lot of punk rock, techno and industrial music. I just think that the Kicker's would handle it better. The only option that Reman offered for my car was a 170amp alternator. I really cant afford to spend a grand on just that one component of the charging system. Now, if I was going to keep the Boston Acoustic tweeters and run them in conjunction with the Kicker SS's, how would one go about doing that? Swez swez on 07/12/2008 12:13:58 Sarcastic? Hardly noticed that one. LOL Reman only offered 170 A version? Ouch... that's way better than stock, but not enough for that Kicker ZX2500.1 which fuse rating states 300A's and 1/0 wiring. Realistically though, this amp will draw about 250 A's at full power in test tones. To make up the current demand differences, you'll have to invest in dedicated batteries to make up the difference. Also, booming through the neighborhood would not be advised. The less boom you use, the easier things will be on your electricals. It's cool to have that thunder in the subs when dragging, but for everyday drivering, this amp will put a huge strain on the rest of the vehicle systems. (Avoid that as it's expensive in many ways) If you really like the Kicker SS series, the specs on them are very solid and the larger surface area of the 30mm Tweeter is helpful for wider dispersion and power handling abilities. The passive crossovers are he key to a great set of Comps. In this case, a tweeter that can reach down below 3,000 Hz is a real plus. That allows the MB/MR driver to do its job more effectively and have some good punch in the lower range. Below 80 Hz., the subs will do the rest. As for the Boston tweeters mentioned here, I would not use them at all if you don't have a separate crossover and 2 spare amp channels to power them. An "active crossover" is recommended if you choose to use them as "ambient fill" across the windshield. Do you know the power handling and frequency specs of these tweets? If not, a model number may help. Do you plan to run any rear fill speakers in this vehicle? Say more about this vehicle and the tweets mentioned. A word on the subs you hope to use in the future would be a good idea too. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
