GM is a huge ship and as such, it's very hard to turn a lumbering hulk around in short order. They have known this for years, but failed to act/anticipate the new challenges all US car makers will be dealing with for some time to come. (Fuel efficient vehicles that average people can afford and be reliable as Toyota and Honda)

For GM to really turn a profit, they have to pair down the number of vehicles that are not holding up the bottom line and prune their labor force to match. That will not be easy with the UAW tying one hand behind GM's back. The obvious targets are middle management people that do not build a thing. (They are a cost burden to GM, but can be outsourced or brought in as P/T consultants as needed)

Ouch, that hurts a lot of people in the middle. But, if Japan can do this and turn out great cars and still turn a profit, which business model shows the most promise? D'oh?

Finally, I'd hate to be in Rick W's perch right now. He's got a lot of hard choices to make to survive this pending "depression". Some fresh eyes on deck would help. The old guard is not cheap to keep and the sweeping changes needed will not come from within.

PS Ttocs, which recession are you talking about? Some parts of the US have been in misery/major declines for 8-10 years already. Washington DC is cooking the numbers. (Take out this, that and other factors and we look pretty good... attitudes) Horse poop! Look at the whole picture. Not just the filtered BS #'s we get each quarter. It's a shell game and all shells are fixed by shills who sit on the bubble, hoping it won't burst before they retire or land a new gig.

The bottom line... ask most American's one question: "Are you doing better now than 15 years ago?" Most will say w/o a doubt... NO. A few will say yes, life is good and getting better. The rest are clueless.

If we subtract the "no and clueless", things look very positive. (To about 20-25% of the US population) So, the answer we most often hear, "Things are tight, but we're holding our own". OK, some can hold their own "winky", but that does not mean things are fat, dumb and happy for all. THINK about all that.

"The picture and sound are in our control. We have complete control of your mind and TV sets for the next 30 minutes." That was Rod Sterling's intro to The Outer Limits, back in the 60's. I'd say he was a visionary and way ahead of his time.

Recession? It's a depression...banks going broke, house values plummetting...the only thing keeping the figureheads from accepting reality is denial.

Yep, yahoo email. The Juno account was closed years ago. Delete if still on file.

Chat may be a good idea, after you get the e-mail details.

How do I load echat.com? Got a link?

that was a gag.

just hit me up with yahoo IM & I'll be on some of the day. Ping my other emails as I check them quite often. That or text me at the address I provided in your email.

OK, will do as I would rather know the "devil in the details". If there are better options out there and you can benefit by offering a better option, I'd rather do business with guys I know and they/you get paid for the transaction.

Is your current firm licensed to do biz in MI? If yes, we want your options/experience and maybe that service. If not, and there's a better way, it benefits the bottom line, we'll put a "perk" in there for your time and expertise. (That's what friends are for right?)

Hey, you have "wise magic" in this game. I am not skilled is such matters, nor care to be an L.O. But if we can find a better deal with your "wise magic" experience, we can work something out to mutual benefit huh?
