what coils does the woofer and how do you have it wired??

sounds like your running it at to low of an ohm load and it went into protect.

i am not sure what coils the woofer is and it is bridged on channel 1+2.
and yes it does get hot! should i just turn down the gain's?

Yes, dialing back on the amp gain settings should help keep the amp cooler. If you continue to run it hot, the amp is likely to fail and let out some "magic smoke". Once that leaves the amp, it very hard to get the smoke back in. SMILE (Basically, if the smoke gets out, the amp will become useless like burnt toast)

What is the model number of this sub you are now using?

umm i cudnt tell u, its about 4 years old n my dad was using t before n its got a home made box so i wud have 2 take that apart 2 find out. ive been out in my car 1 day and had the seats at the back foward and its been k so far. ive heard about suing computer fans??

OK, this sub is probably a single coil, 4 ohm sub. Kenwood did not make any dual coil subs 4 years ago and I don't know/believe they do now.

Knowing that much, dial back on your gain for the bridged channels a "fuzz" until the amp does not shut down. Also, if you are using much more than +6dB of bass boost, backing off on that will help too.

Fans can help cool the amp, but like all electronic devices, heat is the enemy. It's good that this amp has good protection circuits or it would be toast by now. In a nutshell, don't needlessly push your luck.
