We here are mainly a car audio forum. Perhaps you could get a answer here: http://www.mazda3club.com/ swez on 05/28/2008 17:43:55 In most cases, the cars' computer will scan and sample many circuiut functions in the system to insure all is working properly. If it detects a series of faults in a given circuit, it holds that code and you'll get a warning lamp eventually. Sometimes the fault is intermittent and you can clear the code and turn off the dash lamp by clearing all codes stored in the computer memory by disconnecting the Neg battery terminal for about 1-2 minutes. Then, reconnect the battery terminal and see of the lamp goes out. If the lamp comes back on later, the fault is still there and a tech will need to hook up a code reader to figure out what circuit is throwing out this code. Once that is determined, they can tell you what circuit(s) are tossing codes and what needs to be done to repair the problem. Does your car have an extended warranty plan? If yes, use it. If not, once the code has been verified, you can research the recommended repairs for this fault and have it taken care of by a dealer or a shop that specializes in this make of vehicle. If this is a common fault, the car maker will often publish a TSB, (Technical Service Bulletin) to alert dealers on the fault and how to handle it.
