so, i get everything wired right.. and it plays and everything works. Is it supposed to get, like, really hot? because it is ;[ and i have most everything hooked up right im sure.. what would cause this Replies (1) swez on 05/25/2008 20:03:09 In most cases, we look at the speakers used for clues to heat issues. If the speakers are much below 4 ohms per channel, the internal amps work harder and heat up. This can be caused by 3 main things: 1. Speakers are closer to 2 ohms per channel like the factory Bose systems use 2. If we wire up more than 1 speaker per channel in parallel, the net load drops to create heat 3. There are a few Aftermarket 2 ohm Component speakers kits out there that will cause a HU to heat up too JBL and Infinity have 2 ohm products in their mix and an outboard amp is used to get the most from them.
