I HAVE 2 10 INCH CERWIN VEGAS 2 OHM 600 RMS SUBS. I WANT TO RUN A MONOBLOCK AMP TO BOTH SPEAKERS. WHAT AMP WOULD BE RECOMMENDED AT A REASONABLE PRICE TO PUSH THE SUBS? ALSO HOW WOULD I RUN BOTH SUBS OFF OF A 1 CHANNEL MONOBLOCK AMP? Replies (7) clemmons76 on 05/23/2008 23:48:04 1999 FORD EXPLORER swez on 05/24/2008 05:57:00 Welcome to CK Clemmons. What is the model number of the subs noted above? (A hyper-link would be most helpful too) Once we know what you have for subs, then we can guide you into a few options to power them adequately. Also, are you using the stock factory HU now or plan to use an aftermarket one at some point? Swez PS Lose the CAPS. This is considered "shouting" here and we all have good hearing and there's no need to shout. hehe newB on 05/24/2008 06:42:20 WHAT???? GRIN if they're both single 2ohm woofers your going to want to get a 1ohm stable amp and wire the two coils in parallel for a net 1ohm load. for a good budget amp the Hifonics bxi1206 would pair nicely with those woofers. can be found online around the mid 200s -Drew clemmons76 on 05/24/2008 22:14:30 sorry, didnt mean to shout. they are vmax 10.2 series woofers. I have an Alpine cd receiver for the head unit and polk audio 6x8s in the front and rear doors. The subs are in a ported q-logic box. .74 cubic ft. per sub i think. swez on 05/25/2008 04:50:14 OK, these are 2+2 DVC coils and a net 2 ohms is the desired target for the pair. (Series/Parallel wiring configuration) That means each sub is wired at 4 ohms and then to amp in parallel for a net 2 ohm load. See manual info on page 2: http://www.cerwinvegamobile.com/manuals/mobile/VMAX_Sub_Manual.pdf Here, you'll be looking for Mono Block amp that can deliver 1000 - 1200 watts RMS @ 2 ohms. Off hand, I'd consider the Alpine MRP-M1000 as one option. HiFonics, JL Slash series or let some of the other guys toss out a few options too. Just make sure the amp you choose has a subsonic/infrasonic filter to protect these ported subs.
