Considering that both vehicle cabs are on the smallish side, 100Sq Ft should do the trick fot the placements you have listed, though you may ned a little more if you are doing like every Sq In of your trunk. Souind deadener can be a bit difficuly to stick on verticle and inverted locations, make sure you clean it well first, lay your mats out in the sun on one of your hotter NM days, and then roll it on with the specifically designed tool. From there, if you don't feel it is on well enough, hit it with a heat gun. swez on 05/18/2008 14:17:27 Cleaning the surface panels with Denatured Alcohol insures good adhesion. A J-roller is a handy and cheap tool to press the matting into place after it's laid. (Home Depot has both) As SQL said, when the matting is warmed in the sun, it's more pliable and easier to work with. Heat helps activate the adhesive too. Also, when doing inverted and vertical panels, consider using smaller strips of say 4-6" in width and 2-3 feet long. If you want added insurance, 3M's Super 77 spray adhesive works very well. (Sprayable contact cement) Another thought would be to use a combination method of matting and paintable/sprayable deadener like E-dead's eDead v3 Quart - Black for the odd spots that are hard to line with matting. A few coats will often do the trick. Hope that helps, Swez PS I don't think 100 sq ft will be enough for both vehicles. You'll have to take some carefull measurements and figure about 10% more for a good margin of error. http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_24&products_id=451 ttocs on 05/19/2008 00:52:06 I have had my hands on almost all the brands of damping and I recently got my hands on a new product called 2nd skin. It is new and you have probably not heard of it and your local shop may not sell it yet but they will. Their entry level product is online with other "extreme" products and their damplifier pro leaved then both in the dust. For my own vehicles I will not use anything less. They do online sales, check them out........ ckoscin2 on 05/29/2008 17:21:42 i used this stuff from elemental designs....i like it, it does the job and only $1 a Sq. Ft. you cant beat it...... http://www.edesignaudio.com/index.php?cPath=1_24 here is the thread on it from befor. http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/?g4137_2 Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
