Now the total 'manufacturers' of speakes went from 127 to 25 :-) PS I know it's old news, but DaYUM!! USFLAG Replies (3) newB on 05/8/2008 22:19:12 =( i <3d my TC9s RIP TCsounds -Drew MrBrownstone on 05/9/2008 14:24:37 BEGIN RANT SUBROUTINE it's crazy, but most people that buy mobile electronics don't even know that 65% of speakers are assembled by 2 companies.....and they use the same parts. That'd be why so many baskets, cones, surrounds, etc are identical. shhhhhhhhhhh...don't tell anyone cuz brand A is waaaaaaaaaaay tighter than brand B. Thanks Korea for our amplifiers Thanks China for our speakers Thanks Mr B for point it out END RANT Ash on 05/9/2008 17:22:09 So that's how P.E. got a hold of some of their stock.... Still not so cheap there either! I'm not surprised though. The cost of TC products was ridiculously high. Overhead or greed probably got the best of them. I would look to some more companies going that route as they really ask too much for what they offer. That and outsourcing, but it serves them right. The only thing that they may do is engineer or even assemble the parts by hand. Other than that, Mr. B is right, there are only a few actual manufacturers and some have even gone to keeping the wealth for themselves by making their own brand or selling similar designs for less to other companies. What we gotta do as consumers is stop buying the ritzy stuff for so much money and show the industry who has the real power. Just like the oil industry needs to be shown. Unfortunately that will never happen because we are obviously lost in material things and trying to "outdo the Jones' ". Expensive gear, gasaholic cars, cell phones with a thousand faddish functions, etc. Monies wasted on menial things that won't matter in the next year as something new takes over. Where does it stop? It's amazing how far in quality sound I have come from using "spare" parts and inexpensive raw gear. The prepackaged stuff is highly over rated because people won't take the time to learn. I'm not using anything special, just good applications. So I guess I added to their demise as well since I refuse to pay that kind of cash. How many of you are guilty as well? Shame on you!!!!
