it keeps amazing me how long it can take to send things. I bought some stainless/light up door sills that I found used on ebay a little while ago. They use electroluminescent sheets(EL sheets) to light up and have a small power inductor that powers them. I left my doors open for a while doing some work on her and then noticed that they did not light. I noticed that the inverters looked like they had become hot in one place and had burned out so after some searching I found Mr bodykit that sold the inverters. They are in canada and I had no idea the difference when he asked if I wanted post or DHL for $4 more. I told him I was not in a hurry so we went with the post and at 5 weeks when I had almost forgotten and given up they finally showed up. I wired them up with a switch this time so that I can turn them off if I need to.... I also decided to make a cover for the bottom of my trunklid to dress it up when it is open. I made a fairly simple looking design with a wooden piece that has gentle bends and curves in it that is held up with screws. I then took a piece of plexi that is the exact same shape but smaller so that the wood piece makes a 3 inch boarder around the plexi. I first layed out the words "MUSTANG GT" centered on the plexi to match the words in the bumper. I then painted the back of the plexi, and removed the letters so that where the letters were is now raw unpainted plexi. I put some reflective window tint behind the letters so that they now look like they are written in chrome. I am waiting for some flocking supplies now to cover the wood. That is not a typo, flocking is a way of covering a solid material(wood, plastic, fiberglass) first with a paint/glue, and then adding the flocking material to the glue. It is a modern day tar and feather that leaves a soft velvet/felt feeling on the piece. I am amazed I could not find the materials in town and had to order them so I paied $5 for the materials and $8 to ship them and I am now waiting to get them. It will take 15-20 mins to finish and another 15 to install it, only 4-5 days to get it......... I also found the side-skirts that I needed for my side exhaust system, now I just need to get the money to paint and install them... I always feel 3 steps behind..... If it comes from outside our boarders, it is documented, tracked and inspected under certain conditions. That would explain the delays. Only 3 steps behind? Not bad... Mang! Swez ttocs on 05/6/2008 11:24:45 I have nothing aginst the boarder, especially the canadian boarder since I am sure they are up to no good..... The flocking stuff is supposed to be here today so I have everything masked off, ready to go.. 3 steps is on a good day. ttocs on 05/6/2008 22:08:58 FINALLY!!! I got the flocking flock in and got at it this afternoon. It is at the bottom of the page I recently added to show some small details I have been working on. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2395420/11 Sorry if it hijacks you swez, you might need to try twice but I swear the site will not hurt you. I think the pics make it look a little better then it really is. If you get up close and take a look there are a couple of pieces that could be better but it is not too bad considering it was the first trunk lid cover I have made. Funny this looks better as the pics don't do justice to the stainless bezels I made. It was neat to start with a dull piece of metal and cut it into shape, and the rub it till it was shiney. I think they look better in person. swez on 05/7/2008 19:28:09 Like the grill vent mods and that new rear deck mod came out well too. This time, I did not get any pop-ups. Keep up the nice work as this will be a nice show car later. Swez ttocs on 05/8/2008 09:49:59 it will be nice to see the rear deck with it is painted but I am aftraid that it will not last too long in the AZ heat. The bezels came out nice, but I had to rub those things for so long to get them to look the way they do. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
