Hi, i have a 2004 Nissan Maxima with 2 Kicker CVRs running on a ZX850.2 and they come with the Factory Ported Kicker Box... My trunk rattles ALOT and I am looking for the best possible Sound Deadening Product... Any Recommendations? But when I am right outside the car i hear NO BASS and i kind of want to be heard, so would i maybe need a custom sub box or should the Factory Kicker box be sufficient??? Below is my Setup Subs and Box http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Kicker-CompVR-12-Subwoofers-Enclosure-Package-07DCVR122/sem/rpsm/oid/172946/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do Amp Kicker ZX850.2 Now my amp can support 4 Ohm Mono and pushes 850 Watts RMS... My subs are set up as a 4 ohm load and can handle 800 watts rms total... so I just basically want bass to be heard right outside the vehicle cause you can hear the bass far away but not right next to the car... all i hear are the highs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated swez on 04/7/2008 05:59:32 This often means the cabin is well dampened and holds the bass inside the truck. That's the goal of an quality install too. (Well done) If you roll down the windows, the bass will be heard outside the vehicle, but often from a distance as the bass waves are long and carry a lot of energy, away from the vehicle. Swez cecilio87 on 04/7/2008 06:03:16 Well the thing is, right now my Truck is not Dampened yet. Also when i drive i lower my rear seats so all the bass can go to the front of the vehicle... Now it sounds nice when in the car, but from the outside you really don't feel any bass just hear the trunk rattle a bit and even with the doors open or windows open all you hear next to the car are highs.... Sorry for not explaining this before Ash on 04/8/2008 17:03:11 What you are asking for is a SPL rig sounds like. In this case the best thing to do if you really want to make a lot of noise is find the peak frequency of the car's natural resonance (i.e what bass note is loudest for your car). You could use a test tone cd or have the vehicle mic-ed at a local shop (if offered) to find that frequency. Once found, build a custom sub/box tuned to peak at that frequency. It will also get some extra boost without additional power by doing so. You may not like how it sounds in the car for regular listening, but you will be booming. Personally I don't care for that style as it can get you in some trouble with local authorities and your precious hearing as well. Yet, if that is what you want, then you will need to focus on the peak frequency aspect. This could be hard to attain in some vehicles (especially luxury sedans) as they already come pretty well damped from the factory for a quiet ride. To get beyond the "sound barrier" you must move large amounts of air utilizing large and/or multiple woofers and gobs of power. Some even cut out part of the back deck for the sound to escape. Extreme, but it works. A custom bandpass vented thru the seat or deck is perfect for this as well. Repeat: "custom".... Not the el cheapo ones with the pretty lights and plexi you find in local electronics stores. Ones that are actually designed and hand built by a pro. The bandpass is almost a forgotten wonder for loud bass in a sedan. Done right and trunk rattles are next to nonexistent. There are a few options, but are you sure you're willing to go that route? Ash, cecilio87 on 04/8/2008 20:50:53 Well on my own vehicle i already have it very loud that it does tend to get me in trouble, but I am asking this question for my friend and i believe he wants to achieve similar results... So are you saying that if he gets a custom made bandpass box set at the resonating freq, then it will be much louder with reduced trunk rattling? Thanks for the reply ttocs on 04/8/2008 23:35:34 I have been installing extreme for almost a decade and just a month ago go ahold of 2nd skin damplifier pro for the first time. I will not be using extreme anymore..... It is not as extreme as it used to be next to the damplifier pro. cecilio87 on 04/9/2008 01:50:26 So 2nd skin really is much better than Dynamat Extreme? ttocs on 04/9/2008 19:34:59 YES. No only is the damping material thicker, but the foil covering it is thicker as well. I was able to work 2nd skin into the groves of my floor where the dynamat would have torn. There is an entry level 2nd skin material that is almost identicle to the extreme, but at a cheaper price. I will not go back. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
