All,

Thanks for the forum. I'm in need of some help. I'm going to install a deck and 6.5's in my 1972 IH Scout II. My questions are (1) How do install a fuze to protect the deck? (2) How will I wire it so it turns off when the ignition turns off?

I bought a Sony Xplod cdx GT520 w/ integrated IPOD. I was reading a post that said these are junk. I've always had good luck with Sony products. Any other opinions. I only need this to power those sony 6.5 marine speakers. Nothing extreme. Thanks again.

Sony is a pretty good product, one of the top 7 most well known. As long as the 6.5's don't need hundreds of watts to power them the deck should be ok.

As far as fusing the stereo, you can buy inline fuses at any auto parts store. You will need 2 fuses. One for the yellow (constant power memory) wire and one for the red (switched power wire). You can use 15 amp fuses on these. One will pull more than the other, but I don't remember if sony pulls its power from the constant or the switched to actually run the unit.

The yellow wire should have constant power as mentioned. If you can't find one in the dash, you can run it directly from the battery. If you run it from the battery, put the fuse as close to the battery as possible. The red wire should only have power when the key is in the 'on' or 'acc' position. You will be able to find this wire in the ignition harness if there is not one in the dash. I don't know if this vehicle had a factory radio or not.
