I have installed an aftermarket deck, the problem that I am having is that the metra wiring harness is way to loud and it makes a consistant loud irritating static noise all the time. If anyone knows how to get rid of this static or even if you know how to turn the speaker off without disabling the radio or car normalcies, this would be very appreciated. I have looked at many different forums and have not found an answer yet. Hopefully someone can help before I go crazy.

I'm not entirely sure what you're saying.

The radio ( Just the FM/AM frequencies or CD's too? ) is making a static noise through the speakers? Most of the time you will need an anteanna adapter to plug your factory anteanna in to the deck for FM/AM frequencies. If you do not listen to the radio, this is not needed.

First thing I'd check is the ground, which would be the black wire coming off the deck. This needs to be screwed or bolted straight to the metal of the car ( any metal brace under the dash or behind the radio should do fine ). Extend it if you need to, but try to keep things as short as possible without making install/uninstall frustrating.

The second is wiring for the amp if you have one. Make sure it's grounded and all speaker connections are tight.

The third and not the easiest thing to try is making sure the speakers you're using have the correct amount of resistance for the head unit. Are they aftermarket speakers? What kind? What vehicle is this in, and what is the new deck?

I would suggest keeping the power turned off on the radio until we eliminate the resistance possibility, we don't want you frying your brand new deck.

First, let me Thank you for the reply. It's not any of the stereo equipment. The metra wiring harness itself comes with a speaker that does all of the chimes for the car. That speaker that is attached to the harness is the problem. All the static comes directly from the speaker. I was trying to figure out if there is a way to turn it off maybe by cutting a wire or something. But it's driving me crazy. It is always going. I will never buy another metra product ever. If you go to this link you can see what it is.

are you using the ground from the deck to the wiring harness???

most aftermarket units need a better ground than the wiring harness provides

Should be a matter of unplugging the back of the speaker to stop the noise (there looks to be a white plug in the picture), but I don't know if this will limit normal operations or what. I don't think it would, but you would obviously cease to have any chimes from your lights left on or things like that.
