i just bought a 91 ford crown vic, the stereo was in the back seat and both wire harnesses were cut off, i tested the wires and learned that the constant shorted, i checked my fuses, they were fine, i then rerouted my constant from the stereo to the battery, that blew a fuse, then i attached the switch wire from the car to the switch and constant wire to the stereo, and blew another fuse, i wanna know where to put the constant wire or where the source is

Hum, it sounds like this HU may have some internal damage or a short inside the main power supply. (That will blow a fuse everytime)

In this case, it would be prudent to bench test the HU outside the ca and make sure it is working properly and all wires inspected for nicks, cuts and such too. If the HU blows a fuse when bench tested, that means either a repair or replace it with a good Aftermarket HU. Here, you'll need the following items:

1. 12 volt DC Power supply
2. Inline fuse (10-15A's max)
3. A pair of test speakers (4 ohms min.)
4. Wiring harness color codes for this model Ford
5. 12 volt test lamp or voltage test meter (AC & DC)

As for the wiring harness ID, a few of our guys may have that info and can pass it on when they pick up on this post.
