i had posted a topic earlier about the box 1.5cuft vented with a 4x10in port and got good feedback, decided to do it with a 2.5x10in port instead, tuned to 40hz. Enjoy!! the cut material: http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e216/saxwonder05/0217081549.jpg sizing it all up before assembly: http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e216/saxwonder05/0217081622.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e216/saxwonder05/0217081622a.jpg all together and tight: http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e216/saxwonder05/0217081754.jpg Routered port opening: http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e216/saxwonder05/0217081840.jpg Sizing up the Bass Clef: http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e216/saxwonder05/0217081944.jpg After Jimmy and i went CrAzY with some spray paint: http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e216/saxwonder05/0217082035.jpg this is one of my more unorganized builds, partially because i built it from scrap mdf from another build and partially because i did it because i was bored on a Sunday afternoon. the layering on the boards, blown out screw, and butchered slot vent are the victims. I like the bass clef addition. If you can make the bass clef out of 1/4 MDF and attach it to the box, then cover it with carpet, the bass clef will show as an accent. Not everyone will see it at first, but when they see it, they think it is the coolest thing in the world. Victor on 02/18/2008 12:13:05 newB can you find some time to write an article on "Enclosure Building", specially addressing wood work and joinery details...??? i'd suggest if you do decide to write, do not get into the designing part as it would need to be elaborated to a great extent, but we definitely need some great wood working advice from you on CK.. what ya say..??? cplkittle on 02/18/2008 12:15:49 yeah, wasn't it you that had those pictures of how you bent MDF and made radius corners? newB on 02/18/2008 16:58:29 it was! i still have it, just haven't had the chance to incorporate the bent mdf into a practical build yet. that is actually what i was considering writing, something that is simple and clear (full of photos) and explains how to build a box from pretty standard household tools. the main thing i disliked about other tutorials is that they always used $600+ table saws and neat little 90* braces and cool stuff that any normal person wouldn't have. a good quality box can be built with only a jig saw (ive done it, and the jigsaw was broken and would not cut at a 90* angle) so yes- back to the point i'll probably start working on that very soon.
