which alpines do u have, the dual 2 ohm or the dual 4 ohm?

They say 4ohm + 4 ohm on the box

Wire the subs for a 2 ohm load to the amp, bridge it and then you should get 500 rms if you are running at 14.4 volts.

ya that what i thought but how do i get the subs wired for 2 ohms... thats what i was asking... if that is the best ohm to use.. and the amp puts out 500 watts to 1 channel bridged at 12.2 volts so the amp should put out more then 500 at 14.4.

No, dont wire in 2ohm. first off, you cant, and even if you could...4 ohms is what you want. According to the PG website, that amp puts out 500 brigged at 4ohms.

All you need to do is wire each sub in series for 8 ohms and then bridge them to the amp. Thatll give you a 4 ohm load.

instead if telling you how to wire them, go to this website and itll show you, after all, a picture is worth 1000 words...

http://www.jlaudio.com/tutorials/wiring/index.html#4dvcsp

go to the one that says "2 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Series / Parallel"

ok i went to alpine and it gives me the wireing diagrams after much work looking hehe. so 4 ohms well give me more power then wiring them into 2 ohms? sorry prolly a fairly obvious awnser but i' m horrible with ohms... because i have 2 wiring diagrams 1 for wiring them into 2 ohms and one for wiring them into 4 ohms

Unless if sounddomain.com is wrong, the amp is 2 ohm bridge stable, http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/PHOT5002, to get 500 rms at 4 ohms from this amp from what this shows needs 14.4v to do so.

At the PG site it says 500 rms bridged at 4 ohms. He can wire his subs in 2 ohm. You're right about not doing it in this situation though, it took me awhile to find the Alpines to see what they were rated and both the 4 and 2 ohm DVC's are about 250 rms.

Sorry for all the confusion, but I see different specs for this amp.

As mentioned before... wire each sub for 8 ohms. Then parallel wire both 8 ohm subs for a net 4 ohm load to this amp whan bridged. If you run the amp bridged and lower than 4 ohms net.... very hard on the amp.

If this seems too hard to phathom, same results if you wire each sub for 2 ohms (parallel) and connect 1 sub per channel in 2 channel mode. Same results and may be easier to understand.

btw i just foudn the test sheet that came with the amp at 14.4 volts it runs at 558 watts when they tested it before shiping
