SQ song list

I am trying to make a CD of songs that emphasize dynamics and musical clarity. This is my list so far and why. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Dead Can Dance - Sanvean
Warm and flowing synthesized orchestral background and the greatest female vocalist alive - Lisa Gerrard.

Enya - Smaointe
Another great female vocalist. Very soft song with a bagpipe instrumental.

Evanescence - Lithium
Very strong vocals, 6+ octave piano score, string accompaniment, strong rhythm guitar chording. Lots of dynamics.

Damon Fowler Group - Pride
12 minutes of blues at it's best with a simply amazing 4 minute lead guitar solo.

Tool - Wings for Marie & 10,000 days
dynamic and dramatic with left to right fluctuations completely out of rhythm with the song. Fast then slow, light then heavy. Wings part 2 (10,000 days) is full of rain and thunder sound effects in the background. Just as dynamic as the first song, but with a faster driving bass guitar set tempo throughout the song. The entire song reflects the emotion of Maynard dealing with his mother's death.

Hmm... Never heard of any of those groups, but with so many out there I tend to stick to the old school stuff because that's all I know.

Steely Dan is one of my favorites to audition with:

Green Earrings, Josie, Black Cow, I Got The News, etc.

The ones with Michael Macdonald on back up vocals are nice especially when he does keyboards. Good drums, ambience, and bass guitar notes are excellent. Great live band sound.

Got several jazz tracks from an old Boston Acoustics test cd designed for system testing. None of that sweep crap stuff, pure SQ jazz with very good dynamics. Will point out flaws real quick. I can send you some tracks if you like if you tell this non cpu savvy old guy how to. GRIN

Sting is another one:

Fields of Gold, Englishmen In New York, Brand New Day.

All excellent tracks that will test sub, mid, tweet accuracy. The beginning of Brand New Day is addictive on a nice setup!

That would be really cool if you could send me those jazz tracks.
If they are already on your computer, you can send them as attachments through email. I think most online email hosts like yahoo let you send up to 10 meg at a time. My email address is my screen name here @yahoo.com

I will have to ask my step dad about the Steely Dan. He is big into the classic rock and has tons of CDs. I listen to alot of classic rock, but I never thought of using them as SQ tracks. I do have a remastered 24bit recording of Pink Floyd - The Division Bell.

Hey Ash, thanks for the music.
I will definitely be adding Tribute to art and winter creeper. I liked Iguana until I heard winter creeper. Very nice additions!

Swez, I am still digging for my old Yanni CD. I know I had one or two.. or maybe it was a DVD...
A pirate looks at 40 I haven't heard that song in a looooong time, one of my favorites though.
