my amp for my car the pertection light comes on when you hook it up how can i fix it

your first test is going to be this-
pull out your speaker wire and RCAs so it is Just
Power
Ground
and Remote

then tell us if the Protect light is still turns on and you get no output

what model is the amp and subs???

sounds like the subs are wired too low of an ohmic load for the amp to handle so it goes in to protection mode to prevent the amp from being damaged

Right... With amp shut off, pull the speaker lines out of the amp first. Now turn on the power to the amp and see what happends next.

If the protect light goes out, the amp is likely to be OK. We can walk you through the troubleshooting steps as needed.

If the protect light is still on, remove the signal input RCA's from the amp. If the protect lamp is still on after these two steps, the amp has internal problems and that usually means a trip to the repair shop or replace the amp.

Say more about the amp and sub(s) used here. (Make and model #'s will help a lot.
