HELLO ALL, I HOPE THAT SOMEONE CAN ANSWER A FEW QUESTIONS FOR ME. I AM CURRENTLY IN ITALY AND PURCHASED A 1999 ALFA ROMEO SPIDER. I WANT TO UPGRADE MY STEREO SYSTEM AND HAVE CHOOSEN AN ECLIPSE CD3100 FOR A HEAD UNIT. THE PROBLEM IS THAT MY KNOWLEDGE OF ELECTRONICS IS LIMITED. I CANT SEEM TO FIND A WIRING HARNESS FOR MY CAR ONLINE. SINCE ECLIPSE IS NOT BEING SOLD IN EUROPE I AM PLANNING ON ORDERING FROM THE STATES. IS IT POSSIBLE WIRING THE HEAD UNIT WITHOUT THE WIRING HARNESS? IF SO HOW DO I GO ABOUT IT. THANK YOU FOR ANY INFO THAT YOU CAN SUPPLY.

welcome to the forum. Do us a favor and turn off the caps lock. Online is the equivelent of shouting and nobody likes to get yelled at.

I am not sure which hrns you have or which you want. There is a hrns that plugs into the new cd deck, that one you will have to have. Most people will buy a hrns that connects to the factory wiring to allow them to connect easier. this speeds things up but it is not necessary.

Now the only problem is we are a bunch of americans and not familiar with your car. I am not sure if you have any kind of a premium sound system that would require bypassing.

It is possible to wire the head unit without a wiring harness, but it requires a moderate amount of knowledge in electronics. We could talk you through it, but I don't know how much information I can get on an Alfa Romeo.
This might help you.. There is no stereo information on the spider, but there is a possibility that some of the wire colors are the same with the 164, milano, or GTV-6 depending on the year.

ps, please lose the caps lock. it is actually more difficult to read.

The sound system in the car is stock, an older Clarion head unit (cassette) with 5"x7" and separate tweeters in the doors, and a 8" sub. Thanks for the info, the spider is the same as the gtv except that it is a converable. I will look into this.
