OT: Think about voting and then just do it

Well guys, this is way off topic for this forum, but it's important that younger people take a stand, make your voices heard and become a driving force for change in this pending election year.

The stakes are high and we are long over due for a positive change in the matters that go on in Washington DC. For too long, we have been handed lies and promises that failed to materialize over the past 20 years. It's time to speak up, vote with a well rounded view of the candidates and who will be the best agent of change we so desparately need in the 21st century.

In one ABC poll, (Facebook) 3% said that they are very happy with the status quo. (No doubt these are people that are doing very well in life and have what they want... well paying jobs, nice homes and pay low to no taxes) Basically, those who are riding the high hog under the current system.

The poll showed that 69% of respondents are not happy with the status quo and think Washington DC is well out of step with the average American's dire situation on the economic outlook for Americans. (They say the economy is weak or very weak and I have to agree... we are very weak) The question is, just how weak are we now and what changes are needed to get more American's back to work, have adequate health care and a solid financial foundation when they hit retirement age. (That comes a lot faster then most people think)

Only 29% of respondents have a favorible opinion that things are just fine as they are. That's a pretty meager number and these people are probably the upper middle class or very wealthy. As long as this group is getting what they want, all is right with the world. They don't want their boats to be rocked and like things just as they are.

There was a 4% group that are not sure what to think. That says they are on the fence and may not see the big picture well enough or are just not paying attention to the plight of millions of American's that struggle to make ends meet each month. (Know any of them? I sure do)

I ask our readers to spend serious time looking at the issues, the candidates and plan on voting when election time hits this fall. We have a larger stake in what happens over the next 4-8 years and if we stick our heads in the sand, we deserve what we get. Don't do it that way and make your voices heard. You are the Generation that can change the status quo. You are smarter, better educated and have access to way more information on the Internet than the typical old party line voters of years past.

Look, I am not picking any specific party or candidates for anyone. That call is very much up to the voters. However, a younger cadidate that is not well steeped in the current political regime is well worth a careful look. They can write a new playbook if we support them. Listen carefully to the issues and think PROGRESSIVE over PARTY affiliations.

We need a set of sweeping changes and getting rid of the "Old Guard" is imperitive to our future as US citizens. The Old Guard is not in touch with the average Joe/Jane American's needs and challenges. As long as the Old Guard remains, we are stuck with their old ways mentality. Politics as usual, is not good for the 21st century American.

America needs a new blood tranfusion from the top to the bottom. We are on a slippery slope and just a few more misteps will plunge us into yet another war and a long recession/depression.

OK, I'll step down from this soap box with one final comment... "Think of your futures now as they are on the line and it's not looking good". Our families deserve a chance to live the American dream... not the status quo or worse.

Comments anyone? USFLAG
