I'm having problems getting my head unit to work in my 02 Impala. I was told to connect the red 12V wire from the stereo to the engine harness and use a 10A fuse. Is this right? If so, how do I do this? If not, what do I do? Replies (3) cplkittle on 12/30/2007 02:13:25 gm cars suck when changing the radio. There is no switched power wire to the radio, the radio is kept on by a RAP (retained acessory power) module in the radio, all of the warning chimes play through the radio along with onstar, and in some cases, the vehicle will not start if the radio is removed. You really need an integration piece. There are 3 main types.. 1) with onstar and bose 2) with onstar, without bose 3) without onstar or bose If you have a bose system, you will definitely need the integration piece, if not, there are some cheaper alternatives. ttocs on 12/30/2007 15:13:08 they have started to sell these pieces at walmart now. I do not know if they are worth a darn or not but they are there. If I am not mistaken getting the dash apart on the impala ia a pia, you might want to consider a shop....... kirchatndftbl on 12/30/2007 22:56:50 impalas are a pia to get the dash off thats why i had a shop put my HU in a while back the integration pieces are pretty much a must Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
