i just bought a capacitor but then i was told it needs to be charged before use or it will ruin it. the directions said nothing about this. its the digital readout type. any thoughts? Replies (3) cplkittle on 12/20/2007 11:13:17 Most of the newer capacitors have a built in resistor and will charge themselves once connected. If it does not, a simple 12v light will work.. just use the light as an inline resistor and when the cap charges, the light will go dim. krull on 12/20/2007 14:43:07 thanks for the info. got a bit of cash involved in my system, new i needed the cap. for my subs but never installed one before. i bet your right as the directions said nothing about pre-charging it. thanks again KRULL kirchatndftbl on 12/21/2007 10:31:03 you dont really need the capacitor they dont really do much and can actually end up making you power loss worse http://www.clubknowledge.com/cgi-bin/car_audio_faq/faq.cgi?g5316 Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
