i know this isnt about car audio, but i figured alot of people here know about computers and such, hope no one minds the post...

ive downloaded thousands of mp3 and theyve all played fine, but lately something strange has been going on. the past few that i have downloaded play for about half the song, then i get this really weird noise from them. its ahrd to explain, but it sounds like some kind of computer noise, like a modem connectiong but not exactly. alot of weird fast beeps and blurs and stuff. i use musicmatch jukebox, havent tried any other mp3 players to see if i get the same results. its really bizzar. . all the mp3s i have now play fine, but it happens alot with the newer ones i download.

any ideas at all??

What is it is when someone who has a slower computer and tries to encode mp3 while doing other things at the same time seems to mess up some of the mp3 they are encoding due to the processor hitting 100% usage.

thanks for the clarification on that

You sure about that, since Kazaa has been declared illegal, couldn't someone be editing the songs and sharing versions that are weird like that, almost all of the new ones are like that. Very hard to find good versions now.

I'm betting someone's tryin to corrupt the songs to turn people away from Kazaa, that's my guess.

Yes, I had the same thoughts that there may be some form of file corruptions going on now as Kazza has been targeted by artists that do not get paid for internet supplied music.

There may be a targeted effort to make Kazza less appealing to those who use that service now... but am sure there will be other sites that will pop up later to take its place if needed... where there is a demand, someone always figures out a way to fill the need.

I remeber using a simple .EXE program called UNCOOK.EXE.

I guess it was terminolgy for MP3 files gone bad. I remember having MP3s with random bleeps and blops in the songs. I ran this UNCOOK program on them and it would remove all the audio mistakes 99% of the time.
