I am about to order these items to replace the stock multi-disc in dash player in my kids 04 Ford Escape For the head unit I wanted hands free Bluetooth and not a lot of units come with them. This Pioneer 7900BT has built in BT but the I Pod cable is optional. Pioneer has a model 790BT with both BT and I Pod cable included but Sonicelectronic is out of stock on them. I have decided to just order everything from Crutchfield as they have such great service and competent help that I dont mind paying a few more bucks to get everything at one place. Also, Im ordering Infinity 5010 components for front stage and rear fill These are being discontinued and are as far as I can tell, the only 4 Ohm comps Infinity has. They are replaced with a 5020 line which is all 2 Ohm stuff like the ones I have in my truck. The head unit: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-oa2u5XQWVkS/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=130DEHP790&s=0&cc=01 Components: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-oa2u5XQWVkS/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=1085010CS&s=0&cc=01 I Pod Cable: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-oa2u5XQWVkS/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=130CDI200&s=0&cc=01 For now she is getting a little Directed powered 8" subwoofer w/ a passive 8" radiator that I started out with about a year ago when I began upgrading my truck. This was before I found this site and with the help of Swez and others I began to quickly replace everything that I bought the first go round.LOL I want the hands free Bluetooth for safety reasons more than anything. I have read here that some problems have been seen with the , I think, RCA grounds on some Pioneer units. Any other problems with this stuff ? I am not amping this system initially, but probably will soon... What do you guys think?????? JamesP Replies (5) Grdevs24zero on 11/26/2007 19:47:18 The only problems I've had with Pioneer head units would be the disc gears. After about 3 years the gears tend to loose their teethe or become misaligned and they have trouble spitting discs out. And those components are interesting, I thought all Infinities came with aluminum dome tweeters. Nice price on them too, these might just be a Christmas present for a friend of mine. cplkittle on 11/26/2007 22:54:02 Some problems have been noted with the Pioneer RCAs, but it is an easy fix if you have that problem. Nice choice of components (Low RMS, and can handle an amp if desired later) Pretty cool that you only need a cable now to control the ipod. You used to have to buy an interface with 2 cables. I would recommend sitting in the car with your daughter once everything is installed and go over and over all of the features until she knows the radio inside and out. That way maybe she won't be trying to figure out the advanced settings while driving down the interstate. jamesp on 11/27/2007 07:34:02 I know it is sometimes hard to order from Crutchfield because of prices but they certainly have an efficient organization. I placed my order at 5:37pm yesterday and received an email at 7:29 saying the order had shipped. I dont think anybody can beat that. Sonicelectronic had the same HU priced at $309.00. They even had the Infinity comps on closeout at $74.00....by the time you add in thier high shipping prices the savings really arent that much and I know if there are any problems with the equipment.....even if I just dont like it...Crutch will take it back. When I first ordered upgrade speakers last year it is a good thing that I ordered them from Crutchfield. Without the "master sheets" they sent which clearly showed how to disassemble the interior panels on my truck I would have probably become very frustrated trying to figure out exactly how to do it. With the instructions, it was a 30 minute job to replace the front speakers and a good experience, which encouraged me to go ahead with a complete system upgrade soon after. swez on 11/28/2007 03:57:10 Nice picks here and as you say, Crutch is the best in the biz at Customer Service and such. My Dad wanted a few gadgets for his van and a CD Changer for the Lincoln a few years back and I bought them all from Crutch. The install guides were great and made all phases of the installs a snap too. So far, not a single glitch on any items purchased from Crutch. Those Infinity speakers are sweet and a very good match for this vehicle. The fact that they are 4 ohm units is good as most aftermarket HU's cannot handle 2 ohm loads well. Have some fun as you install everything and as Kit suggested, go over all key features with your daughter so she can use this system w/o taking her eyes off the road. Swez jamesp on 11/28/2007 12:31:52 Pretty good delivery...ordered this stuff Monday evening and it is here already. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
