Replies (3) cplkittle on 11/20/2007 12:30:19 Welcome back! First of all, you listed your previous system; What did you like about it, and what would you like to change if anything? Secondly, what kind of vehicle is it, and what is your budget? And is anything left of the old system? RCA cables, Power wire, distribution blocks etc.. Or do we need to start from scratch? koqueelx on 11/20/2007 12:48:35 thanks....What I liked about it was that it sounded clean and hard enough for me....I am looking into growing old being able to play with my kids while hearing them so the loudness was definetly perfect for me...lol...Well I think if I would change anything from that setup it would have been adding a amp to the interiors...but I was ok with the way they performed...I have a 98 honda civic...and budget?...hmmm I want to spend below 1k if possible...I have to get a dvd HU, interiors (maybe components in the front???, 61/2" in front, 6x9 in back)...amp for subs, a pair of 12" subs....all i got right now is the old system wiring, all of it (power, ground, signal/RCA, spkrs)....and a bandpass subwoofer box a buddy of mine gave me...brand new looking...thats it....where should we begin? cplkittle on 11/21/2007 00:12:34 The DVD HU is going to be a chunk of the budget, so let's start there. First of all, all DVD HUs have built in safety shut offs so you can't watch then while driving. There are ways around that, but they are not readily available nor are they recommended. More features on a HU means less sound quality. Imagine your home stereo receiver and dvd player smashed into a 2"x7"x7" box, minus the space the screen takes up on a single din flip screen model. If a DVD player / head unit is a must, what other features would you like to go with it? For sound quality, you might want a good EQ, DSP, crossovers, and/or imaging features. A good quality DVD HU with these features will barely fit into your budget. We can go that route if you want, and I don't mean to sound like I am bashing the idea... just wanted to give you all the facts. Since the heart of the entire stereo is the HU, it can't be the weakest link quality wise. Is that the only change you wanted to make other than a modest amplifier on the mids/highs?
