Quick question: Does anyone know the Difference between Soundstream SA245 and MC245? Replies (1) Ash on 11/16/2007 19:23:44 The SA245, not very powerful. Uses darlington outputs: http://www.soundstream.com/manuals/AMP/sa_mc_d_class%20a/sa122445/sa122445.pdf The MC245 is a interesting piece of equipment. Not a very powerful amp either though it shows it is capable of running a full system with internal/ external crossover configurations: http://www.soundstream.com/manuals/AMP/sa_mc_d_class%20a/mc140245/mc140245.pdf Both amps seem to be capable of running a full system. The differences are small from what I can tell. Too much to dive into. These amps come from a time when speakers were more efficient, and didn't carry a lot of power, nor did people ask for much from a system. Heck, I remember when of my best friends and I did a lot of cruisin in his VW Rabbit during our senior year. He ran a "high power" Onkyo cassette deck, not sure of the highs, a Punch 45, and 2 Pyle Driver 12". Man that thing was loud and clean! At least for back then.. I really miss those days! In general they both were probably good for someone looking for a little more (not much) than stock with a full setup (highs, mids, and subs). Might have even been a very nice setup with the right drivers. Sad part is now they would never survive with today's high power requirements. It would be to hard to find the proper speakers to fully utilize the little power they offer. I must admit though, they are were kinda sophisticated for their time.
