I'm planning to install a sound system in my car and was wondering what the best alarm system is. As long as it's under $2000. a lot of people recommend clifford, but i was just wondering what you guys think

2 grand huh? I have never seen an alarm for that price... Must be going in a perty nice car..

I have installed dei for years and found them to be very reliable when installed correctly. I have done a few cliffords and found their thinking to be opposit dei's(until dei bought them), but good as well. I cannot say if they hold up for the long haul however. The best alarm that I installed was a clifford AG4. It really does cover all the bases with window automation, interiour motion, and glass break sensor. Make sure who ever is doing it has done a few though. They are a very difficult alarm to install, certanly not for a novice. The one I did ended up taking over 12 hrs, but as I said I am not familiar with their product, and had no tech support...

I will have to get back to you on the name of this alarm. But it has pretty much the same features as the one ttocs is talkin about. Has trunk release as long as ur car doesnt use a cable for the trunk or whatever it is. But the great thing is, is that the controller is like a beapper. Has a pic of a car and tells you what part of the car was set off and if a door or whatever is open. And when the alarm goes off it vibrates. And u get the reception up to i believe 2 miles. And it cost around $599 i believe and thats with the professional instalation.

well it's actually just a dumb 2003 sable, but I've had my 2002 millenia broken into twice with all of my gear removed, so I'm pretty fed up. If there's a system out there that'll electrocute the friggin' thieves I'll buy it. Thanks for the advice

2g's is really way to much to be thinking.. $500 will get you a very good alarm, $300 is even good budget. The key is to make sure that it is installed properly. If a really good alarm with a bad install can be disarmed even easier then a cheap alarm with a good install. You need to make sure the shop is reputable, and cares to make sure it is in well.. Some shops brag about how quikly they can put them in, but in this case it is better to sure that time is taken...
