Replies (4) Swez on 04/1/2003 05:29:16 Tell us about your sub amp and a web link to your sub(s). Not enough information given in your post, to answer your question. Amp brand and model # is ? Sub brand and model # is ? Is this sub a 2+2 ohm version, 4+4 ohm version or other? Not sure what you mean by "Phase speaker".... please explain. Swez jimmy on 04/27/2003 02:13:03 2+2 ohm version , Sub brand Phase 12" is the name of the speaker Amp brand boss 600 watts bobbi-digi on 04/27/2003 06:56:36 Well, if it is 2+2 ohm version U have 2 options: 1 ohm load ( // ) or 4 ohm load ( series ). // wiring into a 1 ohm load would be working that amp pretty hard and if the amp performs as rated would be too much for your sub I'd assume. <-> Don't // wire that thing! So I'd have to advise U to run the 4ohm load in Series, theoretically get 600 watts out of it, prbbly less. Even so - you should be able to have that sub working hard off that amp at 4 ohms, while leaving the Amp Level relatively low to keep it running cool. Positive from Amp (bridged mode) runs to (+) on voice coil A. Then connect (-) terminal of coil A to the (+) terminal of coil B. Now, from the (-) terminal of voice coil B connect to the amps ground. Series Sums the ohm-load of each coil, and it looks like this: (2+2) = 4ohms = standard ohm-load. Amp(+)·······[A+A-]·······[B+B-]·······Amp(-) Of course, hopefully it wont be a straight line when U actually wire it up... Enjoi! Your Father, Robert J. Digital Swez on 04/27/2003 09:50:56 Yep, I agree, wiring this sub in series for a 4 ohms load is probably the safest routeto go on that Boss amp. If that amp is a MONO (1 channel) sub amp, then it may do 2 ohms OK... but few low priced amps can handle 1 ohm loads w/o breaking down. If a two channel amp, "perfect for a 4 ohm load". Just bridge the amp which adds both channels together and use the 4 ohm load. If you need a diagram on how to wire a sub in series, www.jlaudio.com has a very good set of diagrams regarding sub wiring options. It's in the tuitorial part of the site. Swez |
