my girlfriend has a 07 pontiac g6, the stock stereo is a 6 disc indash cp player with the monsoon option. i want to know how do i put in a remote turn on for an amp to run subs with ?

im using a scosche output converter from wal-mart to make rca outputs, i was going to tie into the back speaker wires to make a L and R out put. does this also sound like a good idea ?

thanks guys...(it feels good to be back on this fourm)

i dont know of any way other than running the remote from the amp to an accessory fuse that would turn on when the key is on...or installing a toggle switch on the remote and using a constant hot fuse.....and yea the line out converter is the way to go to retain the factor hu and add a sub and amp.

whats a acc fuse that would only be on when the key is turned on ?

u can use the one for the radio or the lighter....maybe the heater.....dont use any fuses that operate any lights...you could get unwanted noise in your sound....

In most fuse panels, there are taps for ACC/IGN and BAT. The ACC/IGN is only powered when the key is in ACC or run modes. The BAT is +12 volts at all times.

You can use either of these or a remote dash switch that can manually turn on/off the amp REMote as well. When using a dash switch that is wired direct to the BAT, a lighted switch is best so the person using it remembers to shut it off before leaving the vehicle. Use small gage wire, (#18-20 gage) and fuse this line at 1/2 - 1.0 ampere fuse.

Got all that?

Here's a list of PAC converters that will work on Premium, Sound, Bose and standard factory HU's.

the 2007 pontiac G6 factory radio doesn't use an accessory wire, it uses a rap module data turn on / turn off wire. your only option is to go to the fuse box and grab an accessory from there. it will 12V with the car on, 0 with it off. toggle switch really is unneccessary here, you're putting subs on the factory radio, might as well keep is as factory as possible, right??

anyway, any cheap old line out converter will work. you can pull off the rear deck speakers, they are crossed over and designed to be "subs" in the factory system. if you use a line out converter with a built in remote turn on, that will kill two birds with one stone.
