I HAVE AN 03 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500HD WITH THE FACTORY BOSE AND ONSTAR. I WANT TO LEAVE THE FACTORY DOOR SPEAKERS, TWEETERS AND CD/RADIO PLAYER. BUT I WANT TO ADD MY 800 WATT AMPLIFIER AND 2 10" KICKER SUBWOOFERS. I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO INSTALL THE AMP TO THE TRUCK. I KNOW I NEED AN AMP KIT. WHERE DO I RUN MY REMOTE WIRE TO? MY GROUND? MY RCA JACKS? WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO PURCHASE? PLEASE LET ME KNOW, THANKS

First thought... welcome to CK! Second thought... lose the Caps.(Means shouting here)

Q's for you:
a. What amp do you have now for these subs? (Make and model #)
b. Does it have Speaker and RCA level input options?
c. Which Kicker subs do you have here? (Model # and voice coil type)

In many cases, you can tap off the rear door speakers to feed the amplifier inputs. Since this is a Bose System and high powered speakers/amps are used, you may need a signal attenuator between the rear speakers and amp inputs. (Depends on the allowable input voltage range the amp can handle) A few of our Pro Installers may pick up on this and have another option as well. Let's see if they catch this and add comments.

As for the amp remote, there are a few choices:

1. Use the ACC/IGN tap off the fuse panel
2. Install a dash switch from ACC/IGN to turn off amp when you don't have the radio on
3. There may be a tap off the Bose amplifiers that can be used to also turn on your sub amp (Not sure on this specific model though)

Depending on the cab style you have here, (PU, Crew or Extended Cab) the amp can be grounded to the floor pan or for stealth, mounted on the rear wall or under the rear seats of the cabin.

Say more and answer the Q's and we'll try to get things on track for you.

I have a crew cab. The amp is a cheap american legacy 800 2-channel amp. i don't have it with me to get the model #, sorry. Nor the speakers. They are in a Probox. I know how to wire the subs to the amp. But not the amp to the radio. I know that with an amp kit i run the 12v red wire from the battery to the 12v input on my amp. Not sure what you mean by level input options.

Probox Rocks? Great boxes with the right matching subs!

Amp inputs: Two main options here.

1. RCA's are low voltage (Typically under 5.0 volts from Source)
2. Speaker line level (Higher voltage levels, speaker output voltage from Source)

Need more details on the subs used here. Kicker subs come in several versions: (Please confirm what you have)
Kicker Comp Series = Single Voice Coil, 4 ohms
Kicker Comp VR's = Dual Voice Coils (2+2 or 4+4)

This amp can be used as 2 channel stereo, 2 ohm loads per channel min. (2-4 ohms per channel is common method) For this amp, the best option is two 4+4 Dual Coil Comp VR's.

The other optiion is to bridge the amp into Mono Bridged Mode. Here, the speaker ohmic load limit is usually 4 ohms min.
