Harness doesn't fit on 95 Nissan Quest

I have a 1995 Nissan Quest and am trying to install a new head-unit. I bought the new head-unit and also the harness by Scosche, FD02. But when I took out the stock stereo, I noticed that the connector was different, the power cable from the harness fit fine, but the speaker's harness was a 1x8 connector, while the one in my van is a 2x4 connector. I'm wondering if my van has an amp somewhere in the car that I need to bypass, but I have no idea where to look.

Also, I noticed I have 2 connections taht don't go anywhere on the harnesses or the head unit. One was a 2-wire connector, and one was a female plug that looked like the female side of an antenna cable. The factory stereo would not power on without that cable plugged. It's a higher-guage wire than the rest of the wires, and its black. I have no idea where to plug this wire into if i need to.

This Minivan does have external amps as part of the package and this is the correct harness kit for your Quest:

Does this plug kit look like the one you have now?

Thanks for the welcome.

That harness looks like the right one, but I couldn't find the amp anywhere. I followed the wires and it just leads to an empty plug so i think it was more of a placeholder or something.

Also any idea about those other 2 connections?

Hum, I cannot answer these ?'s for you, but can give you 2 options:

1. Wait for one of Pro Installers to fill that gap
2. Call Crutchfield Tech Support and see what they can tell you

that wire probably is the antenna wire, that is also grounding the radio. Import vehicles often like to use chassis ground. So does this van have the white and yellow hrns's? My honest recomendation if the hrns's do not match is to take the factory radio out and to a local shop. They can take a quick glance at it and with knowing the make and model get the right hrns.

Ok I got all the power wires hooked up and the head unit powered on without a problem, but i now have a problem with the speakers, I connected it and everything according to the wire diagram, but no sound is coming at all from any speakers. I looked at the manual and it says my head unit only works with 4ohm and 8ohm speakers. How do I find out how many ohms my speakers are?

Also, I never found an amp on it so I used an amp eliminator harness, is there an amp somewhere that I might not know of?

Ok i found my problem, I do have an amp installed, I found it in the driver side trunk space. I'm planning on getting a harness that will bypass it.

This one: http://www.antonline.com/p_70-5514-GP_239958.htm

I have one more question, do you think it will be better to bypass the amp? or use the integration harness that swez recommended in the second post?

Don't know the specs on the amp used in this minivan, but most aftermarket HU's have about 18 watts per channel at 4 ohms. There are a few Alpine's that can deliver closer to 25 Wrms/ch as well. (The V-12 series HU's) What make and model HU are you working with here?

The stock speakers are often rated between 15-25 Wrms and are typically 4 ohms. If you bypass the factory amp, you may note a slight dip in speaker output. However, if you wish to add aftermarket amp(s) later, knowing more about that HU would be most helpful. (Before deciding on whether to use or bypass the factory amp.

Say more please,

PS A better understanding of your ultimate goal for this vehicle's sound system would be most helpful.
