I was really close to purchasing the Pioneer HU but along came this JVC.... I had a JVC in the past and really liked it. The KD-G830 has a few things the Pioneer lacks such as Front USB (instead of rear), adjustable color display (will match the red dash display in my car vs blue from Pioneer), cleaner display (I prefer the clean uncluttered look of the display on the JVC unit). In the end though I am more concerned with quality and sound. If either of these units will give me comparable quality from a high quality mp3 file (which will be my primary source) than I might sway toward the JVC which I prefer from a feature standpoint. The only thing I am not sure of that would be a definite deal breaker on the JVC is gapless playback between tracks. I know the Pioneer will do it. Let me know if you have opinions on this battle of the HU's. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-iSfJedOxb2x/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&tab=essential_info&i=130DEHP690#Tab http://www.crutchfield.com/S-D0C08tEiGip/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&tab=essential_info&i=105KDG830#Tab Replies (2) wwatty on 08/27/2007 14:21:09 I called JVC customer service this morning it seems that gapless playback works for mp3's burned on a CD only. USB devices and iPods do not support gapless playback. I wonder if the same is true for the Pioneer? swez on 08/28/2007 10:28:26 Call Crutchfield Tech Service for this information and reliability reports on both units. They are very good at this kind of supportive information and can give you a better read on them as they sell both. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
