Dust Cap Removal and Repair

Hello All,

I would like to know the easiest way to remove and replace a dust cap? I have a set of CDT HD-642 and the 4" mid range dust cap is cracked. It sounds fine but it bugs me to know that it is damaged.

Do i just heat up the cap and remove and glue another one on? Or do I cut it off and glue a new one on?

Thanks,
Jay

Hey bud, welcome back to CK!!! CLAP

1. If they are still under warranty, send it back and request they repair it and return it to you.

2. If not under warranty, contact CDT and see if they can send you a matching dust cap and the adhesive they use.

3. If you wish to repair it yourself, it's a delicate operation to remove the cap, seal the back side and reinstall cap w/o looking pretty roughed up.

4. If it's only a hairline crack, consider using clear nail polish applied to the outside of the dust cap. It may take a few coats to blend everything in well and you can quick dry between coats with a hair drier on low heat and air speed.

PS How's it crack anyway?
