RCA Cables do they make a difference?

so i had this decent RCA Cables i pulled my amp out to wire things up and as i pulled one of the RCA the whole thing broke so i replaced them with some flea market cheap RCA cables and ever since i put does on my sound system doesn't sound as good can it be the RCA cables make that much of a difference?

yes they do make a difference. cheap ones have far less shielding for one. while the average person does not need a 40$+ set a decent shielded high grade set will make a difference. remember its the signal being sent to the amp if its distorted or corrupted before it get to amp then your only amplifing that too. personaly i have had good luck with radio shack shielded RCA's for cheap and you can find higher end ones with bells and whistles, "better" shielding, etc on ebay and other online sources for cheap.

thanks for the advice i wasnt really expecting much from the ones i got right now but hey the ones u got now from radio shack are they good? like are u satisfied for them? or should i just get monster RCa or wal mart kind

RCA's can make a difference depending on the quality of the center wire and how the ground is wrapped around the center wire. Cheap cables can have high signal losses on longer runs too. (over 6 feet)

Tech tip: If only the RCA plug was damaged, it can be cut off and replaced with quality plugs and requires minimal tools. (Wire strippers, soldering pencil and 60/40 Alloy rosin core solder)
