I just recently installed a new radio and ran into a little problem. I hope someone might know how to fix.
I installed a new wiring harness and connected it to the harnesss attached to the car and everything works fine howerever I have one wire that says "dimmer " on it and I did not know where to connect it to.
when I turned on my lights my dash light didnt light up, so I assumed it was the dimmer wire that I left open needed to be connected to the power led. I did that however now the dash light stays on regardless if I turn the headlights off or on. I tried connecting it to the negative lead but that just blew out the fuse.

Most guys don't use the ILL/Dimmer lead if the HU has a lighting preset for the face panel. It may overload that circuit and blew a fuse.
Also, when installing an Aftermarket HU, ground the HU to bare metal for best results. (Not thhe harness ground) This could be the floor pan, firewall or a metal bracket inside the dash.

Is the dash light on all the time or just when you start the car/have it in acc? You may have connected it to the constant 12v+ or the switched 12v+...your car may have a dedicated dimmer wire, or if like swez said the unit has lighting preset, I wouldnt bother connecting it at all...it won't hurt it.
