Tiger is leading at -7 after 5 holes and is struggling with his tee shots. His Driver/3-Wood are giving some trouble, but the putter is keeping his score in check. (Hey Tiger, use the 2 iron until you find your groove again) This front 9 is not that long and the 2 iron is almost always a fairway finder.
Steven Ames is struggling to find his groove. Ames just 3 putted the par 5 and gave up a a stroke. His tee shots are solid, but the long putts are shutting off his chances to get the needed birdies.
After 7 holes, Tiger is back in gear off the tee and using the 2 iron again. He just sank a birdie putt and moved to -8 after 7 holes.
Earnie Els is moving up with a few birdies and if he gets a few more hot putts, this could be an interesting change of events. Els is -4 after 8 holes.
