I am trying to get both but was wondering which would be best for the job. As for the type of music I listen to I like rock and rap but never country! It for real just puts me to sleep, no bull! Let me put it this way... if you were me what would you do (sealed/ ported)? Also, about the amp, would it be ample enough to do the job if i wanted to push it hard? As for the car its goin in its an 84 prelude. I payed more for my system than the car... former owner had one in it and stripped it all out so I put everything Alpine in it! Off the wall question, whats the difference between reverse mounting and regular mounting? Replies (1) Victor on 08/12/2007 12:51:23 I have installed a few of those for Alpine India Dealer Demo boards and demo cars... Have noticed them perform very good in a 1 cu.ft enclosure sealed. Very good SQ and decent lows too... amazing transients.. If you are more keen on listening to crisp quality music then using a sealed enclosure will keep you happy for long... Go ported if you want more SPL in the lower Freq region, tuned between 30Hz to 40Hz, you can get a bump of 3-6 db's at the tuning freq, depending on the resonance freq of ur vehicle. Simplest, easiest, fastest to fabricate, and best SQ comes with a sealed enclosure... When pairing it with the PDX 1000.1 it gets sufficient power to deliver some solid bass... you can definitely crank it up to show off... and even at high volumes the sealed enclosure will keep the cone under control and give very nice transients... there are many pro's and con's of every enclosure design... pick on what u are looking for... personally for me, i am an audiophile SQ loving guy, so for me sealed works the best... Victor.. PS. regular mounting of the sub takes up the internal volume of the box.... usually when you reverse the mounting, the sub no more occupies the internal volume hence increasing the volume by a tad bit.. this tad bit gives u a sense of higher SPL as it reaches X-max with a tad bit lesser power compared to the sub mounted regularly.. reverse mounting is not advised as it may cause damage to the exposed parts of your sub... in a well calculated enclosure and a regular mounted sub is what you will value for long..
