If we look at the events that are going on in this part of the world, it's no wonder that there is mistrust. This is a diplomatic issue and until that sense of trust can be restored, this program is not likey to move forward.
Look at the internal campaign that has been used to block and shut it off. With that going on, the vaccination program will be difficult, if not impossible, to move forward anytime soon.
"Health officials in the area have been trying to dispel rumours - sometimes spread by radio stations and mosques - that the polio campaign is a Western conspiracy to reduce Muslim populations."
This is terrible and a crime against the children of this region that deeply needs help. To get it moving again, the wall of mistrust needs to come down.

PS I love our country, (USA) and extra ordinary people that fund, live and do great works like this. However, I don't trust our government anymore. There are elements in the "power structure" that have an agenda that most American's would not tolerate, if we were aware of their doings.

Not exactly sure what can be done here.. If the people won't let the health workers do their work, you can't force them to allow the vaccine to be distributed.

You would think it would be hard to find volunteers to attempt to vaccinate children in these parts of the world where religeous extremist brainwash thier subjects from a young age that thier god mandates that all non believers deserve decapitation or vilolent death. It is not. There are many westeners that are willing to risk life and limb to to try and alleviate suffering in these hostile areas.These people are truly heros.
Have you seen the recent photos of the Islamic extremist protesting in England. All the picket signs warn that any and all "westerners" are fair game to have thier heads hacked off. Butcher, behead and kill all who slander Islam. The thing is, you dont have to actually slander anything...just because you are european or american, they believe they will be rewarded in paridise for heaping death and terror upon us.
I protester holds a sign proclaiming "Freedom, Go to H>!!".Does he realize that if freedom did not exist, he would not be allowed to protest in that manner .People tend to justify thier behavior, no matter how sick or depraved in one way or another. For those whom just enjoy murdering innocent people, maybe they can feel better about themselves if they pretend to do it in the name of thier God.

Frankly, protests are part of freedom of speech in the US and other free countries. However, since Gov't knows who some are, you can bet they are watched with great care. (Phone taps, mail intercepts, e-mails are monitored and such) Count on that! We know this is common in the USA now. (We do agree on that right?)
But like any foreigner's that live in another country, if they don't like the policies and wish to protest... fine! However, if these protestors are found to be more than that, (Subversives) deport their azzes back to where they came from or round them up in detention camps.
The US has been doing this for sometime already. Unfortunately, a wide net is cast and many peaceful foreign nationals and some non-WASP US citizens are getting caught up in the nets as well. That's not good either.
I had a chance to see a good number of "illegal immigrants" rounded up for various reasons and incarcerated while awaiting verification of who these people are, where they came from and why they are here.
This is not uncommon in many larger cities in the US. We don't hear much about this and it's all done under the cloak of Homeland Security and Immigration laws. I am certain that many large cities are doing this on a routine basis now. If one really looks closely at the recent incarceration rates and demographics, it's obvious what is going on. (Look around and dig a bit deeper... it's out there) It's no wonder the prison systems are overloaded and bloated to a boiling point.
Look at CA, TX, NM, IL, IN, MI, FL, NC, SC, NY, NJ and other states with large populations of non-WASP illeagals. I'm sure the facts are there, if one knows where to look.
Kinda scary huh?

PS This is old data, but we can be assured that the numbers are much higher now then pre-911. It's very profitable for States to enact this practice. They get paid well by the Federal Gov't to perform this service. It's all about the money!!!

living here in arizona , we have the legal cowboy gangster of racial profiling, being performed by sherrif joe arpio,while he holds tight to the apron strings of governor janet napalitano, surely hoping to ride the ileagal immagration bus to take her place come election time,the latest offense,billboards, with an 800 number to turn in someone you suspect is illeagal, hmmm remind anyone of a certain german youth leader poisoning the minds of the younger generation to spot out possible jewish families.i wonder if the gal who picks his vegetables or cleans his house is legal. so many folks cry "murder" that their jobs are being given to illeagals, but i bet you would never catch them in the feilds working as hard as these people, for such low pay.such boisterous hypocrites,are generally hiding in the shadows ,awaiting their moment to point the finger, rather than accept some responsibility , cause after all we are all humans. sorry folks , this kinda stuff ruffles my feathers.

There is much more at stake than a few illeagal migrant workers doing jobs most American's will NOT do for peanuts. This is much deeper. It's a "contrived emergency" that in most cases, does not hurt our economy and shares with those who need the work. (Poverty stricken immigrants) In many ways, it actually helps many companies to keep their business thriving and not being out-sourced to others.
Unfortunately, our civic leaders have an agenda. We are unaware of that agenda and how it will play out a few years down the road. Most American's are basically like mushrooms... "We are raised on a bunch of manure" and as long as we play along, everybody is OK... for now.
As we get older, some, (I sure do) look deeper at things like this and realize that we are indeed being sold a line of crap. However, if we have everything we want and need, we go along as to not rock the boat and/or lose what we think is AOK. Those who dig deeper, live on a very thin line between freedom, flight, rights denied, (Jail) or worse yet... those too close that speak out are assinated.
Yep... you heard it here and there is plenty of proof out there, if one knows where to look. Sad... very sad as many will be the last to know and by then, it will be too late. This topic is just the tip of a very large iceberg. (An interesting fact about icebergs... we only see about 10% of the whole thing)

as much as my punk rock upbringing disagrees, education is the key to change. for we are truely the people , though our freedoms are slowly eeking away and we are lulled into passivity, WE have control and if we must ,stand against those that desire control.sounds like a letter of intent from an anarchist but i see things going places they should'nt . life is good but it should be for all ,not just those who can buy it.who would of thought you could find this on a car audio forum. lol thanks for the outlet!

Been thinking about this a long time Louis and education is a good thing, but we don't get a complete education in college or a university if we don't learn the values of being human to each other. We are rapidly sliding into 2 distinct classes in this country. We used to have 3. This is almost a global mindset now.
1. One that has more than enough (Rich and powerful)
2. One that has barely enough (Worker bees)
3. The Middle Class is almost gone extinct
