do all 12 inch sub woofers use the same size hole in a box? and if so, does anybody have a link to template? i'd kinda like to have my box all carpeted, ported out, pollifilled, and air tightness sealed... thanks guys -DINGALING Replies (2) accusedmonk on 08/24/2003 09:21:40 None of them are exactly the same, mine for example, the guy that built my box said that all 12"s are just 12"s it'll fit no matter what. I kinda stared at him blanky cause I knew mine were a bit larger then he expected. When I went over there to get the box I brought the subs with me, one of em said you're very lucky those fit. I had to push on them quite hard then use screws to get them down the rest of the way, but they seal good. It all depends on the design of the sub, but mine came with cutout width of 11 5/8 inches it stated in the book for it and on the website where I bought them. Look around and see if you can find the width specified for the subs you have/are getting. Swez on 08/24/2003 09:27:27 Yes, there is a good ampunt of variability in cut out diameters, depending on the subs used. Most well known subs have links in the site to tell all dimensional aspects of a given sub. A snug fit is desirable, but a 1/8" larger gap is easily compensated for with a foam tape under the lip or latex sealant. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
