Hey Guys, thanks Dave for your help with realising I needed another Amp... I ended up getting another Alpine, the MRP-M450, to run my JL12w3v2. Will this amp combined with my Alpine mrv-f340 be too much for a Holden Commodores electrical system to cope? also was wondering if it's ok to run these two off a splitter from the existin 4g cable? Cheers Gene Replies (3) swez on 07/27/2007 08:46:38 Gene, The M450 is fused at 40A's and the F340 is 30A's. It depends on how hard you use these amps and what size ALT is in your Holden now. The nominal current recommended for #4 wire is 80 amperes of current. So you can split that wire as needed with a pair of #8 gage wires. Chances are good that this sub amp will strain the stock electricals if it is below 100A's. But that is only when you thump the bass hard with your lights on and using the heater/AC blower motor on high. For now, just keep an eye on your gages, (Voltage/Amperage) if the dash package has either of them. If you see signs of a discharging battery, back off on the bass and allow the ALT to rechage the BAT. Dave vtcommodore on 07/27/2007 22:02:02 Excellent, I was a bit worried with what I'd read on other posts, that I'd need to upgrade the alt. Any idea what size fuse should be on that once I have two amps running? swez on 07/27/2007 23:22:32 Since we fuse the wire, that would be an 80 A fuse near the battery. If you cannot find an 80A fuse, drop to a lower number, but not below 60 A's. (Above 80 is not recommended for safety reasons) Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
