so a few months back i had my pioneer deh-p9200r repaired by the electronics shop in houston that i used..they replaced the sound output board or whatever it was called.....i got a 90 day warranty with this repair.....so today me and my cuz was rollin jammin to some beats when all of a sudden i heard a pop and smelled burnt electronics...i immediately pulled over and saw smoke comin from the hu...the same problem as last time.....i wasnt too bummed as i figured i had warranty....until i got home and checked the reciept ....90 days was up last week....so no warranty....im now in upset mode since this is one of my favorite models but ive had issues outta this one....the output goes out twice....the ff button is no longer functioning and the rewind is starting to do the same....the screen washes out in the sun so daylight tweakin is outta the question....i think im gonna go with somethin different.....maybe the 6900...but on a lighter note i now have an enclosure for my blowthru in my truck....10 cubes tuned at 30hz.....its gonna wang.... Replies (9) swez on 07/22/2007 10:58:06 Care to get off the Pioneer bandwagon and try another HU brand that has the features you need and priced in the range you have available? Kenwood, Clarion, Eclipse, Alpine are all good options here. It just depends on the features you need. This is an older model Pioneer and is not carried by Crutchfield anymore. (There's a reason that they do not carry it anymore.) If you called Crutch, they may tell you why and what other HU's match that model in features and performance and are more reliable too. Victor.... trunkisloud on 07/22/2007 11:54:29 i was lookin at the panasonic models.....definately dont think kenwood is option....ive witnessed a few mechanical failures on them... newB on 07/22/2007 12:16:26 ahhhhh.... =/ ive watched my friends pioneer burn on him three times in the last six months. im perfectly happy with my JVC. if i had to do it again i would go with something with a little more quality (higher on the product list not saying jvc is bad) -Drew 30Hertz on 07/22/2007 13:53:44 Ive ran Alpine, and Eclipse HU. I had a pioneer way back in the day and was fine with it, however the Alpine and my current Eclipse blew it outa the water. I really loved my Alpine but it was getting old and when I bought my new truck I got the Eclipse CD8445. Its an AWESOME headunit with many many features (most of which I dont use but hey, its all good). Both HU's provided excellent Sound Quality however the Eclipse is the best I've heard. -30 trunkisloud on 07/22/2007 14:46:06 ok so i think i decided on the one i want......its sooo beautiful and i cant believe ive never seen this one before.....is this the one you were talkin about victor? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6822_Pioneer+Premier+DEH-P880PRS.html# Victor on 07/22/2007 15:08:39 Yes...
