way back in 94 my dad bought a running 68 impala for literally 50 bucks in washington state...cars are cheap up there....we drove it to texas where we swapped motors multiple times and improved body work over the next few years...about ten years ago someone offered a trade of a street-ready 66 dodge dart 2 door and my dad took the offer...i wasnt too happy since the impala was to be handed to me....fast forward to last week...i was driving through the town neighboring my dads "hood" and something in the bushes caught my eye...i took a second look and realized it was a 68 impala ...so i turned around and pulled into the persons yard...he happened to be outside...i asked if i could take a look at the car and he said yes....without any further doubt i realized this was the car i lost 10 years ago.....the interior was missing...rust holes were emerging from the once new white paint....the hood was rusted shut.....the person that my dad traded it to didnt do anything but trash it out....it still had the 1997 registration sticker on it.....i asked the guy if he wanted to sell it and he said he didnt have a title but he would sell it for 700 bucks....which seemed about right given the damage that was done....i didnt have the money to snatch it up right away but im almost there.....i told my dad about the title situation and he told me the guy he traded never picked up the title from him..he still has it....hopefully in the next few weeks i will have it....just thought i would share this story since its kept me awake for a week now.
