I'm new here. I'm Nikki and I'm 26 and a Microbiologist. I ride Hunter/Jumpers and have a Thoroughbred. His name is Kintero, which means Big Boy in Japanese. Ok. I just got a 2003 Honda Civic, 2 door, black on black, 5 speed, metal look interior, Spoiler..etc...you know. Ok, I have a question on CD players. I have been an Alpine girl for a long time till some ****ing crack head stole my Alpine from my Integra, twice. (which got rear ended by a guy who was on his cell phone. I was at a stop light and he hit me full on at 35mph. Then Fed Ex hit me 2 years later and then my clutch went out...) Hubby thinks we should get a JVC KD-LH 3150 because it has a ****ing lame ass screen, which he thinks rocks the world. Look, I want performance not a ****ing screen to look at. I mean, I'm driving, not watching a screen. I looked at the Alpine CDA-9807 and liked it a lot. NOW! I want a good CD player, will spend up to 400 bucks for one. See I got $6000 for my car and we are putting 5k down on the Honda, which leaves us 1k to spend on a system and an alarm. We are getting the black Widow alarm. I will also have 2 12 inch subs in the back. I was thinking of getting the new Memphis subs for 150 a piece. Oh, the car will have a Memphis Amp to push the subs. There is a guy hubby knows, his name is Bird.(we live in Montgomery, Alabama..ugh. But I'm a sweet and sexy Italian from New York.) who will put the JVC CD player (the $400 screen one), the alarm(also price included: 200 bucks), and the H4 front blue head lights(to see better at night) in for $750, including labor. What are you favorite CD players and Subs and why. I always liked JL Audio, Alpine, Sound Stream Amps, just because my ex had them. I'm a newbie on car stereo and I want the very best I can afford. I don't like the drop down front because I think it is a waste of time when putting a CD in. BUT! I would like to know which is the better buy of the CD world. I don't want to spend money on a CD player cause it has a screen with videos on it. I mean, I don't want to drop an extra $120 for a screen with screen savers and videos.... THe JVC KD-LH3150 is $400 and the Alpine CDA-9807 is $280.00 I need help. Hubby is acting like a b****h about it cause he wants a cool looking JVC with a video screen. BY ****ING GOD!!! HE'S GOING TO WRECK THE CAR THE FIRST WEEK WE HAVE IT LOOKING AT THE ****ING SCREEN!! I'm getting the car Tomorrow. Thanks! Love ya!!! Replies (1) Swez on 08/23/2003 07:09:27 Oh boy... you do have a dilema... hard to please 2 people, not on the same page of thinking. Negotiate your differences and both be willing to bend like a Willow tree on this one. This is not a life or death issue! LOL You are on a good train of thinking about quality HU's. Alpine, Pioneer, JVC and Clarion Pro are all very good HU designs. Some of the better websites I have found for good value products are: 1. http://www.thezeb.com 2. http://www.crutchfield.com 3. http://just12volt.com/Head_Units/CD_Players/Pioneer_CD/Pioneer_CD_Main.htm There are other too... but Crutchfield is the largest, a bit more expensive, but excellent resources for DIY'ers if you buy there. Finally, welcome to our forum... I could guess you were an Italian type A personality as I am dating same now... but since you are new here, we refrain from "colorful" language as we are a PG rated site. Please try to temper your enthusiasm and such. You communicate just fine w/o it. Swez COFFEE Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
