Hey fellas, I have a 92 ford explorer with the "premium audio" sound system....basically another word for complex crap. Anyway recently my premium sub stopped working, Long story short a co-worker sold me 2x 12'' subs in a box with an amp mounted.....he only wanted 100 bucks so i jumped on it...... Now my question is what am i going to need to get/buy to bypass my factory amp and make this work? i know there are amp bypass boxes to convert the sound to RCA etc do i need to wire in a new power lead for my new amp or will this bypass box have all that in it or what? I guess i am treading into the unknown with this stupid factory amp and would love some advice on what to expect or if it's worth saving myself a headache and have it installed for me. Any help is appreciated Thank you in advace Replies (9) ShootuhMcBustaCap on 06/26/2007 21:41:47 Welcome to CK man! Just don't drop no F-bombs, we are a PG rated site. Ford, with all their premium sound differences, makes it a majot pain to add additional gear sometimes. What subs and amp do you have here? JamesP, any idea on what harness he may have here? your getting pretty slick on picking out harnesses lately. cplkittle on 06/26/2007 22:11:21 Here is a picture of Best kits' wiring harness and amplifier bypass harness: http://www.bestkits.com/ViewImage.aspx?img=i/BHA5514.jpg Normally you will not need to bypass the amplifier unless you are adding an aftermarket amplifier for the mids and highs. Adding a sub amplifier and subs only requires a line output converter which will tap into the factory speaker wires and convert the signal to RCA outputs. You will have to run your own wire straight to the battery for power, ground wire that should ground inthe back within 3' of the amp, and a remote wire that will tell the amp to turn on when the radio is on. If you have the factory radio, and want to keep the factory radio, DO NOT BYPASS THE AMP. You will need it to get any sound from the door speakers. Just use the LOC. The factory radio does not have a remote wire, so you will have to tap into a switched wire to turn on the amplifier. Tell us the size of the amp and the number and value of the fuses and we will tell you what size power and ground wire you will need. Where you been man? Good to hear from you. Most of our pro installers have been MIA this summer. cplkittle on 06/26/2007 22:31:32 chillin with the ladies mane... I wish. My sales and service area has been extended from Georgia to the entire southeast due to my coworker's ACL injury. He had surgery in May, and I have been covering his area since then. I drove over 6,000 miles last month. On top of that, I joined the Freemasons and that is taking alot of my time right now. I'll find some time to come back and help out more after the upcoming holiday. ShootuhMcBustaCap on 06/26/2007 22:39:09 Don't worry Kit, Iv'e been dealin with enough ladies for the two of us man. I had to come back to CK to chill out for a while. I wish i had a job where I got to drive. Me and the hoopty are lacking some quality time. How exactly did you get into Masonry? I'm not too sure if thats a stupid question, but my stepfather is interested.... swez on 06/26/2007 22:45:20 Quote: "On top of that, I joined the Freemasons and that is taking alot of my time right now." Kit, can we talk about this one privately? I am curious about this group and would like to learn a bit more based on your experience. Also, I'd like to share some thoughts as they pop up. Me thinks you have no idea what the real agenda of FM is, at the top of the pecking order. Am concerned enough to inquire, but ask that one goes into this one with eyes wide open too. FM's at the lower levels are good for meeting new people and expanding ones' personal network of contacts. But at the highest levels, it's all about power and influence. Just watching your back friend, Swez cplkittle on 06/26/2007 22:54:22 to be one you have to ask one. You will be given an application or petition to fill out. It will be voted on, and they will contact you. Feel free to email me, Swez or Shootuh. I will answer all of the questions I can. (there are some secrets) Swez, I did alot of research on this, I found good an bad. I will admit that I am not 100% comfortable with everything, but alot of the bad things were dispelled after my first degree. ShootuhMcBustaCap on 06/26/2007 23:00:31 Hook me with your email bro. I have never gotten it from you. swez on 06/27/2007 01:59:36 Quote: "Swez, I did alot of research on this, I found good an bad. Yeah, you get my drift and I don't have enough bonified research yet to ferret out the tales from reality just yet. I have listened to several radio programs that went in to some depth about Free Masonry from members who left the botherhood for various reasons. They had some interesting stories to tell and some were not things I would wish to be associated with. (Again, these were higher level people who often spoke annonomously for their own reasons and safety) They did say that new recruits are often kept clueless for a long time as well. (Sanitized recruiting and very limited knowledge of the deeper roots until much later) I'm not bashing FM nor do I accept all these conspiricy theories that are out there today. However, after reading a bit deeper on the Oaklahoma Bombing history and others who are "expert" in military grade weapons, the fertilizer bomb white wash was just that... pure BS. The inventor of this B-Bomb knows the hallmarks and characteristics very well. Now, he's in jail for 30 years because he knew too much and talked too much to the wrong people. Read this: http://www.theconspiracy.us/9505/0017.html As I have read more about the subject, there are several plausable arguments on several sides of the issue. Unfortunately, those who really know the real story are now dead and cannot speak the truth. In any event, it does make for a compelling read and then try to figure out the facts that match and the falsehoods that counter each side of the debate. It's kinda interesting when one looks at so many things that seem totally unrelated at first blush, and then can connect the dots along the way, that means something. But if one has a gut reaction that is consistantly accurate, one is a fool to ignore it. I seem to have some of that ability and treat it as a gift/curse to use wisely. If others have this gift/curse as well, go with the gut and then look for facts to confirm or refute the initial response. Don't be surprised if the facts are obscure or even made up later. Gut intuitions are not to be ignored. Tangent alert!!! Ding... ding... ding What I really want to say here Kit, trust your gut. After talking to you a few times in the past, it seems we are both pretty straight up men. We seem willing to dig for the real gold and let others think what they wish. It's neat to have people like that in our foxhole huh? Again, just watching your back side. ;-) Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
