I bought two 10'' LED subwoofer rings about a year ago, and never bothered installing them (looked too complicated). I decided to make it a project, and as I take them out, im still confused on how this thing installs! Here is EXACTLY what I bought. It did not come with directions http://cgi.ebay.com/2-10-BLUE-NEON-LIGHT-SPEAKER-RINGS_W0QQitemZ5804023146QQihZ008QQcategoryZ67773QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I am going to take pictures of the wiring, and if you know anything onto where it connects, ANY help would be appreciated. I only know that one piece connects into the lighter. lol Ok here they are Part 1: (2) Subwoofer Rings with 2 connections (female and male connectors) Picture: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a171/lilschtive/100_0490.jpg Part 2: Transformer with 2 connections (male and female) and two wires (red and black) Picture:http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a171/lilschtive/100_0488.jpg Part 3: Light sensitivity controller with lighter connection and what looks like a DC plug? Picture: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a171/lilschtive/100_0489.jpg ANY help will be appreciated...Many thanks in advance! -Steve Replies (6) lilschtive on 06/24/2007 19:24:13 I guess you get what you pay for... :\ trunkisloud on 06/24/2007 21:36:34 i believe you wire the rings into the red and black wires.......the control box controls the sensitivity....vibration makes them light up...so the more sensitive...the easier they come on and stay on longer....im thinkin just figure out which wires on the rings go to positive and which ones go to negative....then just plug into the lighter...or wire em to a 12v source if you dont want the plug there in your face.. swez on 06/25/2007 01:52:16 Neon lighting is a high voltage device and operate on AC or pulsed DC voltages. The cigarette lighter will put out 12.5 - 14.4 volts DC, depending on the charging system. They often use a transformer and pulsed DC to bring the 12 volts +, up to a level the neon lamp needs. The transformer steps up the voltage and I would guess it also converts pure DC to pulsed DC signal wave forms. Do you want to use the sensitivity feature or just on at all times? Swez PS Take a good look on the back of the package as it's got to have wiring instructions of some sort or go to the makers web site and see if they have wiring details. lilschtive on 06/29/2007 23:30:30 I would like the sensitivty feature so i could shut it off. if it makes it easier, i could do without it. I am on vacation right now, and will be back tuesday. But i still dont know where to connect the transformer wires. 4 plugs for the grills, yet only 2 wires really confuses me. I dont have the package anymore. It was worthless cause it did not have any insructions believe it or not. I guess the "some wiring expierence required" meant more than i thought. swez on 06/30/2007 09:07:16 Quote: "I guess the "some wiring expierence required" meant more than i thought. " I think so too. I have never used such products and it might be a good idea to find a shop that sells or installs them for the correct setup and wiring process. I have no idea how to do this w/o some additional information. Sorry bud, I just don't know either, Swez louisypher on 06/30/2007 12:49:23 well i am gonna go on a limb here ,so dont put too much salt in what i am gonna tell ya. i have a feeling the item you describe as a dc like connector, is the microphone that interpets the beats , as to why thee are two sets male female coming from the rings i am not sure, but i am pretty sure the black is neg and the red positive .as to how it should connect to the ciggarete lighter may just be a matter of trial and error as i dont beleive any harm will come to the neon ring from reverse polarity connection.if anything you may just have to replace the fuse if it pops in the cig lighter connector. though again dont take my word for it .as this is how i would attack the problem.i only write because i had a similar issue with some light up pedals they worked finaly but just didnt last, yup, you get what you pay for. hey good luck ,hope you get them to work ,should look pretty cool.
