Do I need to install this interface on a 2000 cavalier? I am replacing a factory radio with After market. If I do need this I need to know how to install when using a after market amp. The instructions only discuss connecting to speaker wires at back of HU. It is a PAC C2R-GM2

the only reason you would need one is to retain the door chime feature that you hear whenever you open the door. if you don't care about having it, then just get a regular wiring harness, probably a Metra 99-2003 wiring harness. you'll have to run an ignition wire, though.

if u havent bought the right wiring harness for your car yet and you just want a cheap harness then your better off getting the metra harness as explained above the only thing your losin out is the door chime and maybe the r.a.p system if your car has it(when you turn your car off it still plays untill you open the door) you just have to run an ignition wire from your car to your turn on wire to the harness and that should do the trick
