i have a hifonics bxi1606D the amp lights up and appears to turn on but when wired up to subs no power is sent to the subs (subs werent blown) so i know that the amp is the culprite all fuses are fine and power wire and ground are good thinking about sending it in to get repaired just wanted advive on what the problem could be i think its an internal problem some where Replies (3) 30Hertz on 06/9/2007 21:39:59 If you have a mutli-meter, hook up the positive lead to the positive channel, and the negative lead to the negative channel. Then turn up the gain on the amplifier and look to see if you have any voltage comming out of the amplifier. Easy way to check if it has anything to do with the channels not supplying power. -30 swez on 06/9/2007 22:01:12 Also, look for the obvious things here too. Lose RCA jacks, RCA input jacks at the amp are wobbling like a loose tooth is one easy thing to spot. Also, if you have a portable player with a headphone output jack, a patch cable with a headphone jack on one end and RCA's on the other are fast way to determine if it's the amp or some other problem upstream too. Tech Tip: If a given amp is not getting audio signals at the RCA inputs, (From the HU or preamps) this is often a good way to check that. Also, 30 Hz made a very good call on reading AC voltage off the amp while input signals are present. In most cases, one can disconnect the subs from the amp and measure AC voltage. If there is voltage present, (25-35 volts AC) then the amp is working and input audio signals are being amplified. That's a clue the subs or wiring are the likely culprit.
