This requires an adapter pocket to convert your stock dash opening to a 1 din size HU. It would also be helpful to use a conversion harness if they are available for this year of vehicle. It makes wiring so much easier and one can keep the stock factory connector intact. As I think about that year, it seems to me that the stock radio had shaft control knobs for manual tuning and volume/tone/balance and fade controls. To make this new HU fit and look right, you may have to do some delicate trim cutting to get a nice fit. Hey Pro Installers, can you give this guy some additional inputs on how to make this one fit well? I have not done one of these in many years and am not sure how to best direct you on this phase of the install. If all else fails, you may want to consider taking it to a local shop, pay the $30.00 + parts and let them do it for you. On some of the older cars, the speakers are wired with common body grounds too. The new HU won't take to this too well and additional speaker wires may be needed as well. This may not be the best car to cut your teeth on. But let's see what others have to say before you go much further OK? Swez PS Welcome to CK! Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
