ok first thing is the amp bridgeable? what modle # is the amp subs . You might check the inline fuse make sure it is in all the way. Try wiring the subs up not bridged and see if that is the case . IF it works then your amp is prob not able to handel what you are doing. IF not it is prob in the wiring somewhere.

I need the Model # the LA290
Is not bridgeable . The red series 4 channel 400 watt amp seems to be bridgeable

Yes, model # of amp and model # for subs are needed here. A web link is best if you have one for Legacy gear.

Even if it is bridgeable the amp won't push the subs that much. More specs would help a lot, but if the specs you gave are for max outputs/input, then the amp will only put out 100 watt per channel max, 50 rms. The subs probably handle 800 max, 400 rms.

If that's the case you have a huge difference here. That's why it's not thumping that hard unbridged. Are you sure about the amp being a red series? The LA290 carfreak pointed out is the only 400 watt 4 channel amp from their site www.legacycaraudio.com, unless if that's 400x4.

If you have the LA870 everything should work great. If not it's probably like freak said and it's in the wiring. What about the impendence on them and what the amp is stable on too.

If the amp is bridgable to a 2 channel version (most are) you can double the output wattage to a sub... but the sub HAS TO BE A 4 OHM SUB !!!

If this amp is rated at 400 peak watts, you may be only getting 50 watts RMS per channel. Not much power to run a good sub to adequate SPL. If you bridge the amp, this nets ~100 watts RMS per channel and that will drive most decent subs to fair SPL levels.

FYI: You would be better off to use this amp to power the interior speakers as this is what it is designed for. Then buy a sub amp to match your present subs.

Again, without more product details... we are unable to really help you in detail.

OK, so your amp is rated at 50 x 4 at 4 ohms RMS, and the subs are 400 watts RMS each. This is the reason they are not thumping very hard.

According to what I can find, the amp is stated to be bridgeable, which should allow you to run 100-120 x 2 RMS. (This is never listed anywhere, it's just a guestimate)

Which one did you try to run bridged? In the user manual it shows that if you are only running one bridged, to use the right set of terminals for the bridged setup, and the left set for non-bridged. Or to run both sides bridged.

Also, like it says in the troubleshooter section of your user manual, what happens when you turn on the system with gains/volume etc... all turned low? Does it still shut down?
