i currently have a pca1000D with two soundstream reference 12's they are good sq subs with decent spl but not enough for me will a single soundstrema T-5 12 out perform these in spl??? or would a single splx 12 out perform better just lookin for some advice on which would be a better fit for the pca 1000D and will give me the best spl out of the 2 listed the T-5 will be in a box around 3cuft (splx) http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16591 (T-5) http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=18129 PCA1000D http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=18129 Replies (6) Victor on 06/2/2007 15:50:16 if you got 2 of those soundstream ref subs and planning to use the same amping power with the new ones... then technically , these 2 ref 12's would be louder simply cause the power being the same and the advantage of double the cone area, along with some reinforcement of soundwaves due to dual drivers... if you are looking for a louder bass system, then either go for a higher rated 15" sub ( higher Xmax and sensitivity) with some more amplification power, or go with 2 x 12" subs ( higher Xmax and sensitivity) with some more amplification power too.. Look at sound damping your car as a very effective way of increasing the SPL without buying expensive electronic equipments... Also re-consider the kind of enclosure you are using.... this can majorly dominate the resulting SPL... Insuring proper current supply to the amps in terms of the BIG3,heavy duty dry cell batteries, and a high output ALT... comments... The sensitivity ratings on this site are slightly exaggerated and probably using "in car" SLP test methods. The Alpine and T-5 are SQL subs. The is SPLX is pretty much an SPL sub that should deliver very good SQ in a well designed ported enclosure. To get the most from any of these subs mentioned, use 1 PCA1000D per sub. That's 1000 watts RMS @ 1 ohm. You should pick up about 3-5dB more SPL here as the 15" sub is several dB more sensitve, higher X-max. (As compared to the 12's) For maximum low bass performance, use a ported box per the Mfg's recommndations. Swez kirchatndftbl on 06/6/2007 20:37:48 i was planning on using one amp per sub but im only going to be running a single 15 setup right now has anyone had personal experinces wiht the splx sub???????? ive owned a pair of the T-5 12s (until they blew due too lack of knowledge at the time) and liked them so i have a good feeling about the t-5 15 cplkittle on 06/6/2007 23:23:35 We had one in the shop (splx15). We put it in an older 300z with a tarantula amp for a competition. It hit 138 on a term lab meter. Pretty solid performance. Never sold one, so I don't know about longevity, but their other products were pretty reliable. kirchatndftbl on 06/7/2007 00:29:46 yea the T-5s 12s were nice that i had they were in a waaay too small of a box and had barely 1/3 of the power and they sounded great too bad that was when i was new to everything and didnt know anything that i know now i think im gonna go with the splx15 sub when i get around to gettin the new sub and box Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
