I have a Eclipse CD8445 it has a 7 band parametric equalizer. The owners manual is useless. Each band has three different settings. I'm not looking for a college course I'd just like some average settings I can put in and possibly a short explanation of what they actually do. Thanks Tim Replies (5) swez on 06/1/2007 16:45:11 Tim, welcome to CK! This is one fine HU with a lot of bells and whistles too. Parametric EQ's are very sophisticated technology and a bit harder to use when one does not have a Realtime Audio Analyzer and calibrated mike. However, with lots of patience and a good ear, one can do a very good setup w/o the added equipment. Do you have a hotlink to the manual on this product handy? If yes, please post it and I'll have a look at what's there, ask you some key questions and walk you through a primer on using this advanced feature pack. Swez timothyjok on 06/9/2007 19:07:46 Unfortunately Eclipse does not have their owners manual on line. I looked closer at the manual and discovered that there is a microphone jack in the back but I have no clue where to get one. It plugs into an RCA jack. Any way to set it manually with with my good ear. 30Hertz on 06/9/2007 21:44:25 I have the exact model Eclipse Deck you do. Theres alot of bells and whistles on this deck that i love, and hate =P. You can pick up the Mic at www.sounddomain.com under accessories I believe. Their description says the mic is only compatable with a certain series HU but thats false. Ive talked with the techs at Eclipse and it works for the CD8445 also. I've used it and it shows you a basic RTA analysis of the acoustics in the vehicle. You can then upload the information onto the website and use their sound adjustment section to automatically adjust the equalizer or you can do it by hand. When I tried doing it online It wouldnt download to the deck so I just adjusted it by hand. The manual is confusing to read but if you study it carefully it does give you all the information you need to adjust the deck. Some parts are mixed in with others though so its hard to follow unless you know what your looking for and can understand the information. -30 timothyjok on 06/9/2007 23:19:51 "its hard to follow unless you know what your looking for and can understand the information." My problem is no matter how long I study it or read it I don't understand. I totally understand the love hate thing. Excellent SQ but not so sure about design and options. I'll try the mic from sound domain and go from there. Why can't I just leave the damn thing alone? 30Hertz on 06/9/2007 23:49:25 COFFEE Just take some time and read the portion about the equalizer. After you get the Mic and use it, you'll figure it out. -30 Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
